It’s been too long!

Yes, it’s been too long since I posted. It’s also been too long since I slept.

I’m in Kentucky, and though the bed is comfy, the air is fresh, and the gun show is in town, I just can’t get my sorry ass to sleep. I’m darn tired and I’ve been in bed for about 5 hours now. This often happens to me in Kentucky. Why? Damn alarm is going off in a few more hours and then I’ve got a full day. Just thought I’d whine.

Whine, whine, whine.

I’ve had a couple things I wanted to post about recently, but haven’t found the time to flesh them out. I really should do a couple more posts before I FACE DEATH next week in San Fran. Well, I face death all the time, I suppose. Why does it feel vaguely more threataning when going in for surgery? I’ve probably been at greater statistical risk in the past week without even realizing. Like when I came to Kentucky during a gun show.

  1. I don’t have any hard facts or statistics to back me up, but I think going into surgery (they’ll put you under with general, ya?) is going to be the riskiest thing you’ll do this month. Even taking the gun show into account. In fact I’ll bet that the rate of gun deaths goes down during the gun show (at least in terms of deaths/gun because the denominator goes through the roof.)

So I guess all I’m saying is that you should feel comfortable and safe in KY, and try to get a lot of rest before you go under the knife.

Say, is your procedure going to take place in an open theater? Can I get tickets?

    • BTW, you’re right — it has been too long ;)

    • Yeah, I’m sure you’re right about general vs. the gun show. Thanks for rubbing it in ;)

Nah, I’m not really worried. I don’t know if that’s a sign of spiritual maturity or ignorance. I’ll claim the former :)

Hmm, I kinda like “General and the Gun Show” as a band name though.

As to the theater: I asked the doctor last time (same guy) if they could video tape my surgery for me. He said that he used to do that, but one time he got in trouble because he said something about the lady he was operating on being fat, and when she watched the tape she heard it, got upset and he got in big trouble. So he won’t do tapes any more. But he assured me the lady was fat and that he just calls them like he sees them.

      True story.
